Professor Chimay Anumba holds the Chair in Construction Engineering and Informatics,
and is Founding Director of the Centre for Innovative Construction Engineering
(CICE), which has over 30 industrial sponsors. His research addresses the
development of systems and advanced IT tools to facilitate collaborative
and concurrent engineering, knowledge management and the integration of
the design and construction processes. He has published more than 150 technical
papers in these fields. Professor Anumba is also the Founder and Co-ordinator
of the CIB (International Council for Research and Innovation in Building & Construction)
Task Group, TG33, on Concurrent Engineering in Construction. He is Acting
Chair of the European Group for Intelligent Computing in Engineering (EG-ICE)
and has held Visiting Professorships at Stanford University, USA; the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT), USA; and Hanyang University, Korea. His
work has received support with a total value of over £10m from industry,
The Royal Society, The British Council, The Royal Academy of Engineering,
DTI and EPSRC. Prof. Anumba is involved in 3 EPSRC-funded projects on Knowledge
Management - CLEVER (Cross-Sectoral Learning in the Virtual Enterprise),
KnowBiz (Knowledge Management for Improved Business Performance) and C-Sand
(Creating, Sustaining and Disseminating Knowledge on Sustainable Construction).
He has several years of industry experience (including project management)
on projects valued at £30k to £20m over the last 18 years.
